Penguin Prison — the pseudonym for writer/producer Chris Glover — is on the cusp of releasing his second full-length record, the follow-up to 2011′s fantastic self-titled release.

This single, a collaboration between Los Angeles production duo Oliver, is the first track to appear from the new record.

I’ve been a huge fan of the Penguin Prison stuff for a while, so this upcoming release is sure to shake things up at the top of my Best-of lists.

I’ve been on to these guys for a minute, since a mutual friend went to the University of Washington with them, and with every release, their sound becomes more developed, more their own.

This new summer jam keeps that tradition alive. Last I heard they were still laying low until after graduation, but I think that time has passed. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new era of Beat Connection, and the release of their second full length record.

In the meantime, give The Palace Garden a listen and get excited.

It’s been a while since Disclosure has released new music, but they’re back on the map with another Mary J. Blige fronted track.

The duo should be back in the studio this fall, with a full-length expected next year.

Etienne de Crécy released a new track today called, “Hashtag My Ass.”

The video features pictures from an Instagram contest de Crécy ran where fans submitted pictures through the social networking site.

He also launched a website to support the new release, located not surprisingly at hashtagmyass.com.

This guy is the OG of french touch, and the new track definitely harkens back to a genre that’s seen little traction in the last few years. I, for one, welcome it’s return.

Toro y Moi — Chaz Budnick’s nom de plume — announced the release of a full-length album this fall for his side project, Les Sins.

There’s been a few Les Sins releases over the years, but Michael, as the album will be called, will be the first full-length record.

The songs to date feel as though they belong in club, as opposed to on a train like the most recent Toro y Moi record, Harm in Change (one of my top records of 2013).

The record is set for release Nov. 4th and Budnick will be playing as Les Sins at FYF Fest in Los Angeles this weekend.

Death From Above played a warm-up show in Los Angeles last Thursday night, and the crowd received a surprise gift: CDs containing a new track from their forthcoming record The Physical World.

The show at LA’s Troubador precedes a world tour for the band, which starts next month in their home town of Toronto, Canada, and the song follows up on last month’s single, “Trainwreck”.

70′s time travelers Foxygen played three new tracks on Seattle radio station KEXP today.

The band played their recently released single, “How Can You Really”, and tracks “Cannibal Holocaust” and “Hang.”

Foxygen also recently announced the release of their new album, …And Star Power, due out October 14th on Jagjaguwar.

This album will follow 2013′s widely hailed, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, and from the sound of the two new tracks, the high expectations surrounding the upcoming release might actually be met.

I love Weezer.

Some of my fondest memories from high school are of driving around with a car full of people singing Pinkerton with it cranked to top volume.

Today’s newset track is an anthem for the old days, a tribute to an era of discovery, when they were still unsure about whether this is what they were meant to do.

It was.

Weezer will be playing the Blue Album in it’s entirety at Riot Fest this year.

Maybe it’s just the bro in me, but I kind of like Diplo. It’s not that I listen to his stuff everyday, but I have had a lot of fun at Diplo shows over the years.

Today, he released the “Andre Agassi Remix” of Lorde’s “Tennis Courts,” and it’s a bass heavy groove laden mid-set kind of jam.

This isn’t going to be the highlight of the set, but it’ll be on a lot of your friends’ late-summer mix-tapes.

Canada’s Claire Boucher posted a song she made with Dev from Majical Cloudz on her tumblr page today.

The track was written in 2009 about an especially cantankerous cat they had.

She writes:

found this song on my computer that me and dev of majical cloudz made in like 2009 about our cat voignamir who at the time was on very bad terms with us because we were forcing him to diet and so he was like, very violent but literally like 20 or 30 pounds.

i dont know why it sounds like indie rock haha, neither of us really make music like this
