It’s been a while since Disclosure has released new music, but they’re back on the map with another Mary J. Blige fronted track.

The duo should be back in the studio this fall, with a full-length expected next year.

Sam Smith continues his unblemished lifetime streak of making awesome songs.

The 22-year old took to the BBC 1 to cover the 1988 Tracy Chapman classic, “Fast Car.”

Flight of the Conchords released a new movie in New Zealand and Australia this summer, but they’ve got more in store according to actor Jemaine Clement.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, he said that the new vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows, only marks the start of what the musical-comedy duo has planned.

He alluded to a 4-episode series with HBO, which was postponed to make room for Shadows, but also said that the creative team behind Conchords has ambitions for a musical.

Etienne de Crécy released a new track today called, “Hashtag My Ass.”

The video features pictures from an Instagram contest de Crécy ran where fans submitted pictures through the social networking site.

He also launched a website to support the new release, located not surprisingly at hashtagmyass.com.

This guy is the OG of french touch, and the new track definitely harkens back to a genre that’s seen little traction in the last few years. I, for one, welcome it’s return.

They don’t make dance music. They don’t sing in English. They don’t wear helmets.

What parisian rockers La Femme do is make a brand of rock and roll that’s genuinely interesting and raw, the likes of which haven’t been seen since the Velvet Underground.

I think it’s easier to talk about where one expects to hear this band:

• At parties with Andy Warhol, while trying to convince Clyfford Still to come back to exhibiting
• In French mansions, surrounded by foreign movie stars, smoking Gauloise, talking to a super model
• At invitation-only openings at the MOMA, making fun of Anna Wintour, sitting next to a Delaunay and forgetting which one painted it
• In French New Wave cinema, just as the action gets started and some beautiful woman steps into the shot for the first time

It could be said that the French invented cool. It could be said that many of the coolest things in the world still originate there to this day. This band goes beyond that, reminding of us that truly cool things never go out of style, and always continue to evolve.

Last year’s debut release, Psychotropic Berlin, not only topped my 10 best albums of the year, it served as the basis for their most recent US tour.

Monster Children Magazine recently released a video that includes some behind the scenes footage from one of those tour stops, crafted in classic French New Wave style.

In Skinny Legs and All, Tom Robbins writes something along the lines of, “Just look at the world, think of something you’ve never seen before, and make it. That’s art.”

La Femme is living that, breathing that ethos. They’re making something so familiar, something we all knew was there, lurking in the shadows. It’s a sound we all know, but can’t place. It’s the dream of another generation finally being realized.

The video that follows is brief, and in some ways, expected. It’s how I would hope La Femme would appear, going through their ritual before a show.

But one thing I do know: They can’t come back soon enough.

Neon Trees performed two songs on the Today show today and had a few words to say in between.

If you watch long enough, you’ll hear them say how they believe in god and like to, “Call upon those powers for rock and roll.”

Say what you will about the album — it’s plastic, candy coated pop — but the reality is this band puts on a great show.

I caught them a few months ago with Charli XCX for free at the Chipotle Music Festival (because that’s a thing that exists) and I became a believer — just not quite in the same way as they are.

70′s time travelers Foxygen played three new tracks on Seattle radio station KEXP today.

The band played their recently released single, “How Can You Really”, and tracks “Cannibal Holocaust” and “Hang.”

Foxygen also recently announced the release of their new album, …And Star Power, due out October 14th on Jagjaguwar.

This album will follow 2013′s widely hailed, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, and from the sound of the two new tracks, the high expectations surrounding the upcoming release might actually be met.

Indie powerhouse duo She & Him announced the release of a new album this fall.

The record will be the fourth studio album for Zooey Deschenel and M. Ward. It will also be the first they release on Columbia records, their new label.

Diplo slipped released a preview of the new Jack U track, “Take Me There,” during a recent set in Paris.

Jack U is a collaboration between Diplo and Skrillex.

The track features vocals from Kiesza, whom I am predicting to have a meteoric rise in the very near future.

It’s a pretty typical sound for Diplo and Skrillex, but the addition of Kiesza certainly takes this rather ordinary EDM anthem and elevates it to a wider audience. Expect to hear a lot of this track in the coming months.

Jenny Lewis celebrated the release of her third studio album, The Voyager, by playing the first single, “Just One of the Guys” on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night.
